Governing Board Award

The Governing Board of the Hemet Unified School District, on nomination by Trustee Vic Scavarda, has selected Wendy Read, employee and volunteer at Idyllwild School as the October recipient of the Governing Board Recognition and Award.

It is a delight for me to recognize Wendy Read for the Governing Board Recognition.  She has been Idyllwild’s Super Volunteer Extraordinaire!  She and her family started the Garden Club and teach students the basics of starting and maintaining a garden while beautifying our campus.  She has been a past PTA president having served in this role several times.  She assists in the SMARTS program which brings in weekly community volunteers who teach art in the classroom.  She is actively assisting with our ASB and Yearbook Committees and has been a chaperone on many field trips with her children over the last 10 years.  In many ways Wendy has symbolized the culture of Idyllwild School which has been successful because of its strong community support working in concert with its excellent staff to help students achieve!

Wendy not only volunteers, she has been a classified substitute at Idyllwild School since August 2015 and was hired in March 2016 as a classroom instructional aide.

For outstanding performance, professionalism and loyalty to the Hemet Unified School District, Trustee Vic Scavarda presented Wendy Read with the Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award and a $500 certificate to be used toward the District program of her choice.
